"How many of you mommas out there feel like you have a million things on your back? Kids, dinners, house cleaning, work, friends, keeping the marriage exciting, time with the Lord, showering, making memories.....the list goes on and on...and on.
When you read Jesus’s words “My yoke is easy, my burden is light”-what comes to mind? I promise you I’ve read that verse a million times trying to speak the words into practice. But how do we actually do this?
I don’t have the perfect answer here but one thing I do know is - the sovereignty of God is real. I have experienced the letting go and putting my hands up to the Lord and finding joy-yes JOY- in the worst of times. Not by my strength-but by the power of the Holy Spirit and lemme tell you it changed everything for me. I truly learned what a light burden felt like. Burden still- but light nonetheless.
In our line of work in Kenya, heavy burdens seem to be as normal as the black shirt I throw on day after day. So how...how do you release the heavy burden and carry the light one-because the problems do not go away?
I believe we take it one moment at a time and we recognize-like really recognize not just hypothetically- that as believers in Christ, we are exactly where God wants us. We are positioned to make the most of Him, giving Him the most glory- which is the ultimate goal, especially in our darkest days. So take the punches life dishes out with your head held high knowing in the depths of your soul that God works ALL things together for good for those that trust in Him. That means all things-even the things that bring us to our knees. Trouble on this side of Heaven is a guarantee-some come from our own doing, some by chance and some by other’s wrong doings BUT we can choose how we respond, we can choose how God will be shown through our lives.
So suit up mommas, friends, people from East to West and try to find joy and laughter and smiles no matter how high things pile upon your back. Do your best with what you have, discerning what is yours to do and know that God is here- omnipresent. It is within our weakness that His biggest glory is shown."
